Pagansim in Ireland
Different religions today.
I am a pagan. It’s simple. I was baptised a Catholic, but I had no say in the matter, because I was only a few days old. I was then brought up as an Irish Catholic. That meant mass every Sunday with the family. All I remember doing in mass when I was younger was people watching and reading the pamphlet. I used to read everything I could get my hands on. That’s all I did.
Then as I got older, and my parents got busier, I brought my younger sister to mass. By then my two older sisters and brother had given up. My sister and I would go upstairs to the balcony, and just sit on the stairs. We called them ''sinners steps''. It was a private joke between us. We didn’t listen to the sermon; we usually just had a chat, or texted people. It’s what we have been doing for years.
I don't think I ever really believed in Jesus as the son of Christ, etc. I prefer to think of God not as an All Powerful Being, but as a force that set the wheels of the World into motion. A being that is here to help. I also like to think of it as a female, but that’s a personal thing. So I sometimes refer to ''her'' as Goddess, Mother Earth, Gaia etc. These are just words, remember that, it doesn't matter what you call ''it''. You might call it Buddha, Allah, or Muhammad. It just matters that you acknowledge it.
This is my opinion; I'm not trying to convert anyone. I'm merely interested in finding out if anyone else thinks the same as me. I strongly believe that you should be able to choose what religion you believe in, if any. And I have no problems with atheists, agnostics or anybody else. Well, apart from Janism and Scientology, but again, that's for personal reasons.
Anyways, I was just wondering, if you’re a ''pagan'', do you share the same views as me, and if you don't, why? I am very interested in religions of all kinds. I’m actually thinking about studying it in college.
Please leave a comment, either way.
