Don't believe the hype

Start with porridge and you're guaranteed to succeed.

Article by : SpunOut.ie

"Don't believe the hype - believe in the man." I think Steve Collin’s philosophy on life, self-belief and lisp-prone juggernaut-driving pugilists was right. There comes a time when you just gotta trust your instincts and ignore the doom mongers. The 250k a year shrink in handmade Italian loafers might be telling ya what's what when he says you'll have more breakdowns than a left-field SIPTU/Ryanair think tank chaired by Tony O'Leary yes. Yet who says you've got to fulfil the lifetime subscription made out by somebody else's expectations of you ?

What can be done? How can you begin to practice what Public Enemy once called "mental self-defensive fitness"? You can decide to build yourself up. Start with porridge and you're pretty much guaranteed to succeed. I would recommend following that with trying something new - like yoga, breathing techniques; religious devotion to perfecting a 170 tungsten-checkout down the local or even smiling for the sake of it and being thankful that you weren't born in Dagestan, Iraq, Afghanistan...ad infinitum.

Count your blessings people and develop outside interests. Be a leaf on a tree, join the old ladies in the knitting club or the boys’ pucking sliotars in your local club. It doesn't matter what you do, but do something, because imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. Who knows, you might even feel better. And you certainly won't feel worse for having tried.
