14 year old Paul Leonard from Grange, Co. Sligo was presented with a cheque for €4,000 at an award ceremony in the Irish League of Credit Unions' head office in Dublin as winner of the first ever, national Video Clip competition.
Paul’s video ‘My place: Changes all the time' includes music from his band ‘Rampant’. Susan Quirke, SpunOut.ie’s Communications Officer said: “Paul is ROCKIN it out on this super cool vid. We all loved your video Paul! Great tune ;)”
Award-winning Irish film director Paddy Breathnach assisted Uel Adair (ILCU President) in presenting prizes to the four video clips judged tops out of well over 100 entries received for this innovative competition.
About the competition:
Run by the Irish League of Credit Unions in conjunction with SpunOut.ie, a national youth organisation, the competition required young people to record a 60 second video clip on what makes their place special. Entries to the competition could be recorded on a mobile phone, camcorder, digital camera etc. The competition was devised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the credit union movement in Ireland.
The Judging Panel which chose the top three videos included representatives from the Irish League of Credit Unions, SpunOut.ie and YouTube. The Viewers' Choice Award was voted for by visitors to the competition website www.yourplace.ie.
