Speaking at the Awards ceremony, Uel Adair (ILCU President) said "The credit union movement is at the very heart of Irish communities and the aim of the Credit Union Video Clip competition was to encourage young people to express the pride they feel in their own place in an excitingly visual way. All the entrants certainly did that in style and we've been delighted with the number and standard of entries we received".
About the competition:
Run by the Irish League of Credit Unions in conjunction with SpunOut.ie, a national youth organisation, the competition required young people to record a 60 second video clip on what makes their place special. Entries to the competition could be recorded on a mobile phone, camcorder, digital camera etc. The competition was devised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the credit union movement in Ireland.
The Judging Panel which chose the top three videos included representatives from the Irish League of Credit Unions, SpunOut.ie and YouTube. The Viewers' Choice Award was voted for by visitors to the competition website www.yourplace.ie.
