Re:Public hits Dublin again
Event: You don't need a degree in political science to voice your opinions!
If so, you’re not alone. Re:Public2011 is an independent campaign launched by young musicians and artists to promote and encourage a fairer, more inclusive democracy in Ireland. The Last Re:Public2011 event took place in front of a full house in the Button Factory and was watched live online by 1000s.
A few words from organiser of the Re:Public2011 campaign, Candice Gordon:
"There is a great need now for an alternative to political elitism, as more people than ever are realising that the actions of government can so greatly affect their lives.
The whole point of the event is to be inclusive, so there is a high emphasis on audience participation. The audience are able to send in questions to TDs through twitter or directly to the stage.
You shouldn't feel you need a degree in political science, be born into a political family, or even have more than just a casual interest in politics to voice your opinion and get involved.
The whole idea behind the event is to empower more people to get involved in politics."
