Scratch that itch to make music
The Young DJ Academy.
The Young D.J. Academy is an established service that provides training in the skills associated with learning to become a Disc Jockey. Word. The training is provided by experienced youth workers using industry tested equipment.
The birth of this mega academy idea grew out of a rising need to provide training to people in youth and community settings and began with running some workshops in collaboration with a small number of projects based in Dublin. These workshops were off the hook, and saw the academy training loads of young people in areas such as Cabra, Blanchardstown, Rosemount, Ballybough, Summerhill, Ballymun, East Wall, Crumlin, Dolpins Barn, O’Deveney Gardens, Coolock, North Strand, Ringsend, Donnycarney, Finglas, Ballybrack, Dun Laoghaire, and even parts of Cavan and Waterford City, to name a few. Djs in Cavan, you may ask? Indeed. There are chances to get involved in projects like community summer music festivals, graffiti and rap workshops as well as performing at regular community discos.
2010 saw the launch of the brand new Young DJ Academy training facility in Finglas. It boasts one to one training for individuals who are interested in learning to dj. The training room is rigged out with technics Turntables, Pioneer CDJ 1000’s and a Pioneer DJM 600 mixing controller.
Courses run all week at various times during the day, evening and weekends, with each session running for one hour.
