Run your own music and multimedia company!

Article by : SpunOut.ie

Want to run your own music and multimedia company? Organise your own gigs? Win a record deal? Travel the world? Blastbeat puts you in control and allows you to shape the future of music, in the classroom, online and on the big stage.

Blastbeat is an award winning, fun and exciting teen music and multimedia business project offered to secondary schools around the world to teach entrepreneurial business skills, promote young musicians, and support youth communities on a local and global level.

Teenagers organise themselves into music and multimedia companies (MMCs), with each member of the company taking on a different job description such as CEO, Sales & Marketing Manager, Talent scout, Web Manager, Video Crew, Photographer, Journalist, etc; ultimately producing a Battle of the Bands concert in order to identify the best musical talent in their areas. There are two competitions in one, an enterprise competition for the MMCs and a Battle of the Bands for the musicians.

Winning bands are selected from the school concerts by a panel of industry professionals and progress to Regional/National finals, the winners from this then go on to the World Finals.  The overall winning band receives a round the world tour and a Record Deal with Blastbeat Records.

The MMCs also compete at National Final level – where they showcase their project work and are assessed by renowned social and business entrepreneurs. The winning MMC wins €5,000! They are then invited to present at the World Finals – where they compete against companies from all over the globe.  The MMC with the most innovative social enterprise plan will then win a further €5,000 investment in their company!  25% of all MMC profits goes to a charity of their choice – giving Blastbeat participants the chance to change their local community and the world!
