The power behind our words

Do we realise their strength?

She looks out the window,

Waiting, although she pretends she isn’t

Even to herself, she pretends

But why?

Why does she try fool herself

She knows deep down

That she would bend to his will

She knows her weaknesses,

She understands that a few nice words

Would wipe away their entire history

For that is the power of words

They are so strong

They can wipe away a decade of anguish

Cities have fallen for the faintest of faults

Yet words wipe away woe

Like a cloth on a chalkboard

Yet the power of the elements refuse to abide

Vast oceans of tears fall yet

No cleansing comes

No release

No end

To this pitiful pain.
