The butterflies

Poem: Is that a flutter I feel?

Ever feel that flutter in your tummy?

I’m walking towards him,

I feel a faint flutter,

He comes into view,

Their wings beat like the wind.

I run into his arms,

They fly like a storm inside me,

7 days later,

They die.

I’m left with a caterpillar,

Feeble, useless.

Now wrapped in a cocoon,

I feel safe and warm.

Once again,

I see his face,

Is that a flutter I feel?

No.

Just my heart breaking,

Right down the middle,

Like the butterfly…
