The blues

my poem (depression).

You slip from light into darkness

It's like slipping down a slide

Faster,faster

Momentum grows

With outstretched hands to save yourself from the lows

Grab at them straws it will do you no good

We all know where this is going

But the speed is too quick!

Down that slide

Down Down…

Down,

You reach upwards

A force keeps you down

You can scream all you want

Down, Down…

Below

Express yourself, you can't.

Someone is smothering your words!

All that slurs out is a stammer

As you stumble and bumble along

Down, Down..

Down in that hole

You try get up but fragile fingers slip

So weak, so fragile

Like a baby you're reduced

You cry all you want…

Someone laughs

Cackling away

You scream one more time

Jump up from below

With wobbly knees and sweaty brow

For all that people know…

You have just won a bloody battle!
