Ignorance

Poem: Words have consequences.

Article by : SpunOut.ie - Rating :

Mirrors shatters as she walks by,
Children run and hide,
Looks of pity follow her,
And she dies a little more inside.

And though the reaction hurts her,
Nothing will compare,
To the disgust she feels herself
When she glances at the mirror.

Her friends all look like models,
Flawless in her eyes…
And when they ask her how she feels
She grins, she shrugs and lies.

Nobody can help her,
She cannot see the light,
And the only one that matters
Doesn’t care for her plight.

She knows he will leave her,
When a better model comes along,
But still she stays and helps him,
Even though she knows it is wrong.

She hopes they can make her better,
When she lies in her wooden case,
And maybe then everyone will see,
The beauty behind the face.
