Above the clouds

Poetry: Dreams are like drugs...

Article by : SpunOut.ie

Dreams are like drugs,
One moment you’re soaring
Into the clouds in euphoria
Above the trials of life,
The next you come crashing
Down into the fires of routine
With a begrudging sense of guilt,
Pain and truth as they are shattered.
Thus adults hide from their dreams,
Though not for fear of a hangover of painful life;
But of the chance to break away from normality.
So the youth alone dare to dream,
Dare to risk, dare to fly
Above the clouds into the sky.
Imagination is the key: the drug
That unlocks our identity.
So do not fear to dream,
Fear the life beneath the clouds
And live the life above.
