Take a whiff
Make bath time a luxury!
Cleopatra used to bathe in asses’ milk! Mary Queen of Scots soaked herself in hot wine! Whatever floats your boat or your rubber duckie...
Whichever your preference, having a bath can be the most peaceful part of a mad day. Adding essential/aromatherapy oils transforms the bath into a luxurious experience at very little cost. Because you are in a warm steamy room, the oils release more aroma than during a massage. The aroma can relax, revive, soothe and relieve aches.
On average, a bottle of essential oil will cost €7. If you can, buy yourself some aromatherapy oils. They are a reasonable price, last for ages and are so worth it! Otherwise, maybe you could borrow some from a friendly essential oil fan.
How to get started:
- Test which essential oil smells you actually like before choosing an oil.
- Never put more than 10 drops in a bath.
- Don’t mix more than three different oils at a time.
Essential oils must be diluted before use, which means using them in a bath will be perfect. There is a wide selection available and you can usually buy essential oil in Health Food shops or in some chemists. Five drops of Rose Oil with five drops of Lavender Oil is a good bath recipe after a hard day.
Oils and uses:
Rose is good for bringing about a sense of pleasure, happiness and romance. 10 drops per bath.
Jasmine is good for overcoming apathy, stress and fatigue. 8 drops per bath.
Frankincense is good for calming and uplifting the mood. 8 drops per bath.
Bergamot is good for overcoming melancholy and depression. 8 drops per bath.
