Social welfare and self employment
Everything you need to know.
Running your own business can be a very rewarding experience. You get to control your own hours and choose when and where you work. However, as a self employed person, your social welfare entitlements are a bit different from a person who is an employee.
So, the Citizens Information Board has set up a new website called selfemployedsupports.ie. This website aims to provide self employed people with a wide variety of information on social welfare entitlements. It is based on the content found within citizensinformation.ie.
The website covers the following topics:
- General overview of social welfare payments for the self employed
- Signing on for the first time
- Jobseeker’s benefit
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Illness and social welfare
- Supplementary Welfare Allowance
- The Means test
- Exceptional Needs and Urgent Needs payment
- Claiming for adult and child dependents
- Additional Benefits
