Naturally mental!
You don't always need complicated solutions to the blues as one SpunOuter explains...
I woke up this morning a moody git. I just felt down, low and blue. No real explanation or anything, just one of those days I suppose.
I find that when this happens I tend to mope around a lot. Laze, graze, watch crap TV and feel sorry for myself and for no particular reason at all.
And that’s just what I did this morning – turned on some absolutely mind numbing American TV show, gobbled up some chocolate and then surfed the internet looking for nothing in particular.
The results of this kinda therapy aren’t very rewarding – the blues get bluer and your ass gets fatter.
Thankfully the rare sunshine outside prompted me to visit a local holy well to pick up some fresh water, which I prefer drinking than the toxic mystery that flows from the tap in our house.
Absolute bliss I tell ya. The well is in a kind of holy grotto place where people come to light candles and pray and is surrounded by hills and a glistening lake.
I’m not particularly religious but I lit a few candles and said some prayers (to what God I don’t know..) and asked for a bit of a lift in spirits and gave thanks for all the good times I’ve had recently.
I wandered up to a secluded area surrounded by trees and sat down by a big old oak tree. I sat and smiled to myself and became blissed out by the sun filtering through the leaves onto my face.
This wasn’t the first time that I realised the benefits of nature and spirituality for my peace of mind. Almost every time I pray, meditate or go for a walk (which isn’t very often!) I feel calmer, more at peace and happier.
It’s especially true when I’m away from TVs, computers and pubs and find myself on the beach, in the sea, amongst trees or in the hills. Being surrounded by nature makes me feel normal and more alive. It gives me energy and helps me forget whatever worries are bugging me.
Realising the benefits of spirituality and nature (or either or) isn’t a new phenomenon
