This is when boys fancy boys and girls fancy girls. Some people feel gay or lesbian from birth, whilst others realise later in life or want to experiment with gay or lesbian relationships.
- If you know you are gay/lesbian or have gay/lesbian feelings, it can be very difficult to tell someone.
- If you think you are gay/lesbian there’s nothing wrong with exploring those feelings and having gay or lesbian relationships to help you decide.
- A gay/lesbian relationship doesn’t mean that you’re having sex. There’s plenty of other stuff you can do until your feel ready for sex. Explore each other’s bodies for starters!
- People will probably presume you’re straight unless you’re open about your sexuality.
- You might have to deal with prejudice about your sexuality.
- If a friend tells you that they are gay/lesbian it doesn’t mean that they fancy you. It’s really bigheaded to presume that just because someone is gay they want to pull you.
- Don’t feel pressurised into having sex to explore your sexuality or to prove you are gay.
- Guys: It’s your choice whether to have anal sex or not. There’s lots of other ways to enjoy yourself with a partner…or alone! If you decide to have anal sex then use extra strong condoms. You can buy condoms that are made especially for anal sex.
- It’s a good idea to use a lubricant for anal sex. Make sure it’s water based. Don’t use Vaseline, massage oil, baby oil or moisturizer because they can damage the condom very quickly.
- ALWAYS use condoms or mouth barriers. You should also use condoms or mouth barriers for oral sex to prevent the risk of sexually transmitted infections. Remember: AIDS and other sex infections are a risk for everybody: gay, straight and bi.
- The risk of AIDS for lesbian women is low but you’re still at risk of other infections such as chlamydia, genital warts or crabs.
