The low-down on how to pull with confidence!
Locate your target
Scan the room and spy for any potential prey that you fancy or just talk to as many people as possible until you do find someone you like!
Suss them out
Do they look like they are with someone? Watch them for a while, as it could be that their other half is at the bar or the toilet. Are they pinching the bum of everyone who passes or staggering around in a drunken daze? (A sure sign to stay away!)
Move in for the kill
Catch their eye by giving them a sexy look or confident smile and wait to see if it is returned. If it is, move in for the kill. If they haven’t noticed you, it’s time to ditch the subtlety and be more obvious. It’s usually easier to chat to them with the backup of your friends hanging around. Or if you’re feeling really brave, approach your target on your own. A good way to start up a conversation is to ask the person if they want a drink or what they think of the music/ place, etc. Or if you’re really smart, have a drink already bought for them…
Pulling don’ts:
- Stare at them with your mouth open and your tongue touching the floor.
- Throw up on them.
- Tell them they remind you of your ex.
- Announce you are ready to settle down with kids.
Perfect pulling places
There are loads of places out there that are filled with people who are looking to find the love of their life or at least the love of the season. So it’s time to drag yourself away from the TV and make an effort - after all Cinderella didn’t find Prince Charming by staying in and feeling sorry for herself!
Local pub
Your local pub is great for a relaxed drink whilst checking out the talent at the same time. There are often friends and people you know there, to help you feel relaxed and chatty. This is the place to be if you want to take things slowly and weigh up your options before deciding who to pull.
Downsides:
- Well, if your local pub is anything like mine there is a good chance that the majority of the people in it are relations or neighbours who may cramp your style, especially if they are watching your every move.
- Not a good option if you don’t like alcohol or drunk people.
Nightclub
This is probably the easiest way to hook your other half. What could be better than dancing the night away with a few drinks and having time to fit in a snog? It’s also a good choice if you’re not into deep conversations, as the music doesn’t allow for much more than the odd shouted comments.
Downsides:
- The chances are that after boogying all night and snogging the face off the love of your life, you never hear from them again.
- You don’t really get the chance to speak to the person or to get to know them.
- It’s not the best place to go if you hate loud music or being around people who are drunk.
Online
Chatting online is a great way to get to know someone. And, you can chat to your online fancy while slouching in tracky bottoms as there’s no need to get all dressed up.
Downsides:
- It can be dangerous speaking to complete strangers on the Internet and it is important to never reveal any personal information. Never believe what the other person tells you. See here for information on online safety.
Holidays
We’ve all heard of the holiday romance and some of us may even have been lucky enough to experience it first hand. The sun, sea and sand make the perfect romantic setting, and everyone looks great with a tan, so what are you waiting for?
Downsides:
- It usually only lasts for about two weeks.
Gym/ local sports centre/ swimming pool/ football pitch
This is a good place to show off your toned body or to spot a potential date.
Downsides:
- Sweating over a treadmill is not a good look.
