One night stands
Youth Voice: The pros and cons of one night stands.
The highs of one-night stands:
- If you want hassle free sex, there's no emotional attachment.
- Variety: like pick and mix sweets, you get to try different people and find out what you like in a partner and in your sex life.
- Sexual release! A chance to get rid of those pent up hormones.
- Sex with a stranger means you can forget your inhibitions.
- It can be really passionate and exciting.
- If the sex is crap you don’t have to see them again.
- You get more experience in bed.
The downside of one-night stands:
- It’s dangerous: you have to make sure that you use condoms and be aware of the risk of sexual infections or pregnancy.
- Going home alone with a stranger can also be dangerous. Make sure your friends know where you are and who you are with. Don’t be pressurised in to going home alone with someone.
- There’s no emotion involved.
- You can feel used, dirty or rejected.
- You risk the “walk of shame” home the next day in your night-before-clothes.
- There’s always the danger of beer goggles or a one night pull that refuses to leave the next day!
