There are zillions of herbal teas on sale in supermarkets, health food stores and online. Many are delicious and warming yes, but there’s more to herbal teas than taste. Since these teas come from herbs, they also have medicinal value. This means that they can be used to help treat conditions or diseases. In fact, many prescription drugs originally came from herbs or plants. Such drugs include Digitalis, a heart medication which originally came from the foxglove plant.

Peppermint tea – This herb is very useful for IBS and other stomach conditions. In fact, it is so helpful that peppermint pills were once a prescription item and are now available OTC at chemists. The tea itself is very effective.
Camomile tea - Camomile tea has long been used for relaxation purposes. It is particularly useful for insomnia and stress relief.
Red Raspberry leaf tea – This herb is a great tonic for PMS and period pain. If you wish to use it for PMS, you’ll need to start drinking it daily about two weeks before your period is due.
Cinnamon tea – This tasty tea may help diabetes. Some studies have shown that cinnamon helps the body become more sensitive to the hormone insulin, which controls blood sugar.
Ginger– This herb tea can really help to ease nausea. So it is often used for morning sickness during pregnancy.
Licorice tea – Licorice boosts the adrenal glands, which are the stress fighters of the body.
Green tea – Green tea can help to decrease inflammation, may help to prevent cancer and boost the metabolism. Many people with arthritis find that it decreases their symptoms.
Roobios tea – This tea is good for shoring up the immune system and also seems to help with skin conditions.
Kombucha tea – Kombucha is excellent for the digestive symptom, for detoxification and for the prevention and treatment of thrush.
Echinacea tea – Echinacea tea may help prevent colds or flu's.
