Aromatherapy
Improve physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health.
Aromatherapy is a way of healing by using very concentrated essential oils that are extracted from herbs.
The healing properties of plants and their essential oils have been used right through human history. The oils are used in different ways to improve physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health.
- Aromatherapy uses different techniques such as massage, herbal baths, inhalation, herbal compresses, creams, lotions and so on.
- On a first consultation, an aromatherapist will talk to you in detail about your health and lifestyle to find the essential oils that will work best for you.
- Each essential oil has different uses, for example lavender (a very popular oil) is used to heal burns and relieve depression, inflammation, aches, headaches, sick feelings breathing problems and insomnia.
- Essential oils are very strong and are usually mixed with a “carrier” (vegetable oil or bath water) before being used on the skin or inhaled.
- Aromatherapy can help relax you, help you sleep, treat some health problems or skin problems and reduce stress and anxiety.
- You can buy essential oils in most health food stores so try asking there about how to use them. Some oils are very expensive, others less so. Don't be put off by the price as only a few drops are needed and a tiny bottle goes a long way!
Quick fix: aromatherapy bath
