Be a savvy shopper
Tips, videos and podcasts on how to save money.
Check out www.consumerconnect.ie, the National Consumer Agency’s website, which aims to help Irish shoppers by supplying them with information on their legal consumer rights as well as by helping them save money via highlighting bargains, good deals and scams.
Issues covered on the website include credit notes, reimbursement procedures, marketing scams, online shopping and much more. There are also FAQ’s and downloadable guides on everything from buying a car to The Consumer Protection Act. The website’s ‘switch and save’ feature compares different companies’ rates and policies for health insurance, mobile phones, landlines, banking, mortgages and life insurance.
There are also podcasts on topics such as Christmas shopping and marketing scams. These podcasts can be downloaded to your iPod or listened to on the website and each podcast is available in either a five minute or ten minute version. Videos can also be viewed online. These videos address issues such as double glazing, unsolicited competition offers, online buying, mobile phones and faulty goods.
As well as providing general guides and tips, ConsumerConnect.ie offers specific details on issues such as how to file a complaint and how to access the small claims court.
