What’s your favourite place, moment or technique for getting peace, quiet and switched-off brain time?
We’ve put together a list of our faves!
Quiet moments extraordinaire:
- Turning the mobile off all day...disconnection never felt so good.
- Crosswords.
- Hiding from the world, even if it means sneaking into a bathroom or hotpress for peace and quiet!
- Popping on headphones, closing your eyes and ignoring the whole world.
- Reading the newspaper with breakfast....alone...with lots of food.
- Hikes in the countryside, enjoying the scenic views and fresh air.
- Hacking out on a horse.
- Cooking- trying new recipes without a recipe book!
- Good, hard physical work, such as mowing the lawn, fixing stuff or cleaning windows.
- Barefoot walks on the beach.
- Spicey chai in a mug...warms the hands and heart!
- Making cards to send to friends and family out of scrap papers and fabrics.
- Early Sunday morning walks - modern life at its quietest.
- A long hot shower followed by a slather of creamy lotion...ahhhhh!
- Lunch solo on an outside bench - no newspaper, no chat, just yummy food, fresh air and maybe a few ducks.
- Hanging upside down!
- Swings!
- A long tight hug from someone you care about.
- Meditation.
- A music gig.
- A spin in the car with your favourite tunes on.
- Reading – anywhere, anytime – lose yourself in a great story.
- Any creative pursuit that you can focus on - painting, playing an instrument, writing, making clothes, etc.
- An impromptu day off work or college.
- A last minute holiday, be it a picnic in the forest or packing up for a camping trip.
- Long cycles alone.
- Walking in or out of town (with the headphones on of course!).
- Sleepy time
