Mind yourself
We all have good days and bad- learn how to stay postive and mind your mental health.
Some days we wake up and feel content with life. We feel confident and relaxed about ourselves and look forward to getting out and meeting friends and getting on with it.
Other days we wake up feeling like shit. Dreading the day, not wanting to get up and face things, feeling down about ourselves and our relationships with other people. It's normal to have both good days and bad days. There are ways to help yourself stay positive. Here are some of the ideas young people came up with:
- Be yourself.
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Learn ways to relax.
- Talk to your friends.
- Get things out in the open.
- Write your feelings down.
- Remember lots of people feel and think like you do.
We also need to find ways to get through our bad days. Bad days don't mean you're cracking up but they can feel very lonely and depressing. Some ideas young people have about getting through bad days are:
- Surround yourself with friends.
- Watch TV.
- Listen to music.
- Get lost in a book.
- Work hard.
- Remember that it's okay to cry or scream.
- Relax: take a break!
- Do something you enjoy.
- Get some exercise.
- Do something creative like painting, music, writing, poetry and so on.
- Know that you’re not alone.
Remember: bad days come and go. Try and stay focused, relaxed and positive!
