The pace of life nowadays can be overwhelming. Sometimes, we need to take a break from all the holla boloo and just chillax.
- Turn off your mobile or put it on silent. Ahhhh, now that’s better!
- Have a lost weekend, where you stay away from the Internet, your home phone and your mobile. Instead, sit beside the fire, read, watch movies and chill out instead.
- Spend time in nature. A walk amongst the autumn leaves, the winter snow, the spring green or the summer sunshine is bound to invigorate you.
- Vent. Have a regular chingwag with friends/family about stuff that is bothering you. Phone, IM or email a good friend and get ranting.
- Treat yourself. Go for a delicious meal with friends, buy that dress you’ve been ogling or book in for that massage.
- Pick up a pet. Take the dog for a walk or cuddle up to the cat. If you don’t have a pet, see about walking your neighbour’s hound or go play with your friend’s hamster.
- Have a laugh. Laughter is scientifically proven to be good for stress relief. It also shores up the immune system. So, head out to an open mic comedy night, watch a funny film, play Twister – anything to get those ribs shaking.
- Surf the 'net. Log onto some interesting forum, surf a funny website like The Onion, IM with friends or read mindless showbiz gossip.
- Have a bath. Add some aromatherapy candles and just drift off.
- Sleeeeeeep. A solid night’s sleep is bound to soothe a scrambled head. Grab the earplugs, the eye mask, whatever it takes to slip into the magical land of nod and enjoy!
