Funk up your sandwich
Check out these ideas for tasty, healthy sandwiches.
Make over your sandwich by:
1. Choosing a great wrapper: Whole-wheat, tomato or herby tortillas, multigrain, rye or whole wheat based breads, Italian style breads, whole wheat pitta, bagels etc.
2. Swapping your filling: Choose low fat cheese, lean turkey, ham, beef or chicken, lean smoked or cured meats, boiled egg, any fish including oily fish e.g. salmon, sardines, kippers, herring or mackerel etc.
3. Layering in the colour: Shredded lettuce, carrot or cabbage, spinach leaves or watercress, sliced red onion, cucumber, red, green or yellow peppers, beetroot, celery etc.
4. Adding flavour: Chutneys, herbs, pickles, low fat salad dressings, mustard, low fat mayo etc
