Article by : SpunOut.ie - Rating :

You should eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetable every day.

One serving= One of the following

  • One medium piece of fruit (apple, orange, pear, banana, etc)
  • Two small pieces of fruit (kiwi, mandarin, etc)
  • One large slice of pineapple, melon, etc.
  • A cup of grapes, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, etc.
  • 3 or 4 dessertspoons of fruit salad, tinned fruit or cooked fruit (check that no sugar has been added)
  • Half a glass of pure, unsweetened fruit juice
  • Three dessertspoons of vegetables (cooked, raw, tinned or frozen). Remember that potatoes, peas and beans don't count as vegetables!
  • One medium sized bowl of salad or a bowl of home made soup
  • Remember that you can have fresh, frozen, tinned or dried fruit and veg. Try to make sure that no salt or sugar has been added.
