House party survival

Are you brave enough to party at home?!

Article by : SpunOut.ie - Rating :

My first house party survival tip is the most important....always party in someone else’s house. Having a house party is great in theory and it may even feel like a good idea in practise, but the next morning you realise that it was a very bad idea indeed.

It is only when you try to piece your house back together like a jigsaw, and I do mean literally, that you start to have regrets. Re-hanging curtains, cleaning unidentifiable substances from the carpet and generally fumigating the house is not fun. It is even less fun with a hangover and parents screaming in your ear. Memories fade and a few months later you might even convince yourself that the aftermath wasn’t that bad but take it from me, it is. Don’t let me be that person who said I told you so!

If you are still not put off having a house party, here are tips on ensuring it is a success:

  • Think carefully about who you invite and don't allow randomers to gatecrash your party. A fairly small party with friends can be a lot easier to manage than dealing with 100 crazy party animals thundering through your home!
  • Make sure you have a good selection of music, as a party won't survive without great tunes. Make sure that you or someone you trust with impeccable music taste is in charge of the music for the night.
  • Tell people to bring their own drink, as it’s impossible to provide enough for everyone at a house party and anyway, it would cost you a fortune.
  • Remember: you can never supply enough Pringles and lots of snacks are always a success. Watch out for snacks and carpets- somebody always manages to grind their crisps into the carpet during the night so consider keeping the food in the kitchen.
  • Put away anything in the house (in all the rooms and the garden, it's amazing where people end up!) of value or that is likely to get damaged.
  • Lock your bedrooms, no explanation needed.

If you are still feeling brave enough, have fun!

and one really good tip.... if you really want the party to last, put all the clocks in the house back 2 or 3 hours and close all the curtain and blinds. haha that always works.

Haha great tips but very pointless no matter how careful you are in the planning if drink is involved the place will get trashed and things will get broken and all the rest! haha
