- We all enjoy a beer or a glass of wine at a barbecue or picnic.
- Don’t go crazy; remember alcohol adds calories that can cause weight gain.
- Alcohol also causes blood glucose levels to drop, which leads to hunger.
- Stay within the recommended weekly guidelines on alcohol intake: 21 standard drinks for men and 14 standard drinks for women. One standard drink equals a glass of wine, a glass of beer or a spirit measure.
- Use diet lemonade, soda water or sparkling water to make wine spritzers.
- Make beer shandy with diet lemonade.
- Experiment with non alcoholic punch or cocktails.
- Have water or diet lemonade between alcoholic drinks for hydration.
- Enjoy diet mixers, no added sugar squashes and water.
