  • We all enjoy a beer or a glass of wine at a barbecue or picnic.
  • Don’t go crazy; remember alcohol adds calories that can cause weight gain.
  • Alcohol also causes blood glucose levels to drop, which leads to hunger.
  • Stay within the recommended weekly guidelines on alcohol intake: 21 standard drinks for men and 14 standard drinks for women. One standard drink equals a glass of wine, a glass of beer or a spirit measure.
  • Use diet lemonade, soda water or sparkling water to make wine spritzers.
  • Make beer shandy with diet lemonade.
  • Experiment with non alcoholic punch or cocktails.
  • Have water or diet lemonade between alcoholic drinks for hydration.
  • Enjoy diet mixers, no added sugar squashes and water.
