Opioid Synthetic painkillers

What are these? These are over the counter medicines that can be bought at any pharmacy. Products classed as Synthetic Opioids include: antihistamines and Nurofen.

Are they legal? Yes. However, there is a restriction on codeine containing products; whereby pharmacists are only allowed to sell one packet at a time.

What happens when you take them?  They reduce pain and can cause drowsiness. There are many different brands and strengths available; with effects varying with each one. Many brands also contain stimulants.

Side effects: May become addictive with chronic, long term use. Also, they may cause sedation or feelings of agitation.
