Youth takes the floor

The NYCI and Léargas are seeking your participation to a series of consultations with young people which will form a cornerstone of European Youth Week 2005.

Known as "Youth takes the floor", these consultations will take place all across Europe, leading up to a Brussels event for young people during Youth Week, 5-11 December 2005. Youth Week is an annual event that celebrates young people, their achievements and the European Youth Programme.

In Ireland, "Youth takes the floor" will focus on issues affecting young people and the influence of Europe on their lives. Suggested topics include social inclusion, employment, travelling and studying within Europe, and young people taking their place as European citizens.

In Ireland these consultative meetings will take place as follows:

29 October: Cork and Sligo
12 November: Dublin.
The meetings will last from midday until 4pm.

There will be an opportunity for participants to nominate themselves for the Brussels event, where they will represent the opinions of other Irish young people and meet with over 200 other young people from all across Europe.
