Writing wrongs
Get your entries into Concern's creative writing competition.
Concern are looking for budding writers aged 13-18 to enter their creative writing competition and be in with the chance to win great prizes.
Concern turns 40 this year and to celebrate they have launched a creative writing competition, open to every secondary school student in the country. The theme of the competition is "A World without Hunger". Picture the scene: it's the year 2058 and world hunger has been eradicated. Great, obviously! But how did it happen? Well, that's what Concern want you to decide.
The closing date is the 18th of April. Get your thinking caps on and try to imagine what you think it would take to create a world without hunger within the next 50 years. Your entry can take the form of an essay or short story (English or Irish) and should be no longer than 1,000 words for the Junior category and 1,500 for the Senior category.
Prizes on offer include the chance for runners up to nab themselves goodies such as iPods, laptops and magazine subscriptions, while the two lucky winners will have the chance to meet Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General, at the Concern International Hunger Conference in Dublin this October.
All entries should be emailed to writing.competition@concern.net on or before 18th April, and the winners will be announced in May. For more details, check the Concern website and then get writing!
