Rental prices differ depending on what city you study in.

2008 has seen student rental prices staying static for much of the country. It was expected by many in the lettings market that prices would increase this year. However, according to the CollegeCribs.ie website of student accommodation, which analysed their accommodation database and talked to those on the ‘front line’, such as the students themselves, landlords and Students’ Unions, rent prices have largely remained static for another year.

Dublin still is the most expensive city for students to live in, followed by Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford. Analysis of the CollegeCribs.ie database of student specific accommodation shows that the average price for students in Dublin is between €90 - €120 per week, with the city centre and South Dublin (TCD, DIT, UCD) being the more expensive areas. DCU students living in the North of Dublin usually pay less. A student living in Cork will expect to pay €80 - €90 per week. Students in Galway can anticipate paying between €70 - €85, while University of Limerick students will be looking to hand over between €65 - €80 per week, with the students of WIT, Waterford expecting to pay the same.
