Rocking rock?

Yeah, rock music is good, blah blah blah.

But I hate this mentality some people have, as though it's somehow superior to pop or dance. Not that I'm particularly a pop or dance fan, but it's someone's own taste, what they like and their choice of music (or not) has got zero to do with their soundness. But there are some people, some bloody twats that I know, who won't shut up about their friggin heavy-metal-goth-I'm-so-cool-coz-I'm-depressed-type-bands 'cause they think it makes them seem cool.

And these same people give out about so-called ‘coolness'!  They're like, “Oh, popular people are such twats, they all think they're the bomb,” – and maybe that is sometimes true, but they go a bit over the top by thinking they're better than them.

The hierarchy in schools is undeniable, although many do deny it.  It's hardly ever talked about, but everyone knows, there are the popular people, the less popular and so on, right down to those unforgettable scapegoats. It all comes down to a simple rule I've patched together from my own experience: When people get in large groups, they turn into twats.

Add to this the problems and issues of being a teenager, and you've got one big pot of explosive goo.  It's not fun, although everyone goes through it, and I suppose it is easier for some than others.

Think about the people in your class.  Do you really know them, or do you just know what everyone else knows about them?  I bet you there's someone you could say a lot of things about, without having ever said one word to them, just because it's the stuff ‘everyone knows'.

The basic thing to note is that if a person is friendly to you, without any ulterior motive or anything behind it, be they rocker, popular, lick, slut or whatever, then they're sound.  And that disregarding them because of their outward image or reputation would be just plain stupid.
