Muse in concert

Newsbytes: Your reviewer was leaping up and down with excitement and receiving the odd elbow in the ribs

Having left Letterkenny mid-afternoon and making good progress on our journey to Dublin, we could not have anticipated the minor delays that lay ahead. Being involved in a collision with a heavy metal tour bus, sporting an unruly gang of overzealous roadies was one thing, then relying on the assistance of an elderly clergyman and eventually pursuing him at a rapid pace through the streets of Dublin city in search of the Point Depot was another.

We were much relieved when our somewhat battered mode of transport (Da’s car) finally pulled up outside our destination.

Having suffered so much trauma in the attempt to witness my heroes, I thought my patience would be rewarded immediately, however the support act the Noisettes did not hold my attention for very long. They lacked the passion and flair that is expected from more experienced bands and failed to find in any way that spark that would have captured my imagination.

Anyway there was only one band I was here to see. I gazed at my surroundings rather giddily hoping they would soon appear. And at last they did.

Beginning proceedings with the glorious Take A Bow and keeping the sweet sound of music flowing with the explosive Hysteria they were soon well into their stride. The audience eagerly lapped up their display as Muse played such exhilarating classics as Stockholm Syndrome, Plug In Baby, Hoodoo and Invincible alongside offerings from their latest album Black Holes And Revelations such as Supermassive Black Hole and Soldier’s Poem, the audience in awe at the spectacular display they were seeing before their eyes.

Your reviewer was leaping up and down with excitement and receiving the odd elbow in the ribs by other members of the occasionally overenthusiastic audience.

The adrenaline continued to rush through my body as I found myself buried beneath a dozen or so of what appeared to be gigantic inflatable condoms descending from the roof of the arena.

By the time the concert reached its climax I found myself enveloped in rapturous delirium as the night was completed with the Starlight and the latest single the rip-roaringly exhilarating Knights of Cydonia. My head pumping and my thirst for decent music slightly more satisfied than it had been when I had arrived, I set my sights on my next adventure in the hope that it would be as entertaining as this.
