Join Amnesty at Electric Picnic
Opportunity to volunteer with Amnesty at this year's Electric Picnic.
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Amnesty International is hosting a wide range of exciting activities and events at this year’s Electric Picnic.
Feeling nostalgic? Come to the festival as a bingo caller! The Amnesty marquee is offering festival goers the chance to try your luck at winning the jackpot at bingo. Volunteers will be asked to help with the running of the bingo tent and if you’re brave enough, act as a bingo caller. Amnesty also need bingo callers to walk around the festival dressed as ‘bingo grannies’ to promote the fun.
Have a passion for fair-trade? The Amnesty Freedom Café will be serving Fair Trade tea, coffee, muffins, pastries and chocolate. Bring your coffee making skills to our service.
Are you passionate about writing and human rights? At the Leviathan tent eight top Irish-based writers, including Booker Prize winners Roddy Doyle and Anne Enright, will be reading their contributions to The Irish Times-Amnesty International series. The series, part of the 60th anniversary celebrations will be followed by a panel discussion on human rights issues hosted by Hugh Linehan. Amnesty need volunteers to help us run the event.
All of this is building towards the high point of our celebration with artists, musicians and fans joining in a huge Happy Birthday sing-along on the main stage just before the Sex Pistols on Sunday night.
