Want to lend a hand?

Article by : SpunOut.ie

Are you interested in helping people with disabilities? Would you like to make a real difference to the life of someone? How about becoming a Citizen Advocate with Inclusion Ireland?

A Citizen Advocate is a person who wishes to be involved in the life of a person with a disability. A Citizen Advocate can support someone to achieve the important things in their life, and safeguard their rights and entitlements.

Citizen Advocates are loyal, respectful, independent and interested in supporting people to achieve their goals. They give their time freely.

The Citizen Advocate will:

  • Undergo advocacy training
  • Establish a relationship with a service user with an intellectual disability
  • Support the individual to access information, identify targets or goals, understand their rights and communicate with others

The project will be based in South County Dublin. All applicants will be subject to Garda clearance.

Advocates will receive training and support.

For further information or for an application form, please contact Sarah Lennon on: 01 855 9891 or citizen@inclusionireland.ie
