Everyone has a story to tell. What's yours?

Opportunity to get published in a new arts journal for young people.

Article by : SpunOut.ie

The Young Emerging Writers' and Artists' Forum (YEWF) is an arts journal for young people, created and edited by young people. It will be in every public library and youth café in Ireland. If you're aged 13 - 18 and like writing then YEWF want your input.

Send your stories and poetry in English or Irish as an email attachment to
yewf@hotmail.co.uk

Or post them to:

YEWF Submissions,
MFG Comhar Dhuibhne,
An Mhainistir,
Sr. Eoin,
An Daingean,
Co.Chiarrai

Would you rather show than tell? Think you've got what it takes to be a YEWF illustrator? YEWF need colour artwork for the cover and black and white artwork and photography for inside. Send it to YEWF by emailing yewf@hotmail.co.uk or to the address above.

The deadline is October 17 if you want to be in the very first edition.

Submission Guidelines for YEWF:

YEWF is interested in all types of creative writing and visual art and would like to see your poetry, short stories and flash fiction (very short stories of 200 words or less), in English or Irish. YEWF will consider all writing genres, from science fiction to historical drama and everything in between.

YEWF will be using black and white artwork and photography to illustrate the inside of YEWF, and one piece of colour artwork for the cover. Please send copies of the artwork if at all possible - YEWF do not want to be responsible for precious originals since YEWF does not have the resources to return them to the creator. Artwork can be sketches, drawings, paintings, cartoons and anything else you can think of, created using a wide range of art materials.

Remember that only one artwork in colour will be published, on the front cover, so please send both colour and black and white examples of your work. This will give you a better opportunity to publish your work in YEWF, even if it is not selected for the front cover. Submissions are accepted from anyone aged 13-18 years living in Ireland.

The format YEWF prefers for electronic submissions is as a Word (.doc) attachment for writing and as a JPEG attachment for art submissions.

Please include a covering email/ letter with your submission with your name, age, county and an email or postal address so that YEWF can contact you. You can include any other interesting information about yourself and your writing/art in this letter.

Unfortunately, YWEF doesn't have the resources to return your submission, so please make sure you keep a copy of your writing and only send copies or photos of any precious artwork.

Although YEWF can't return your submission, we aim to provide positive encouragement and feedback whenever possible to every potential contributor, whether their submission makes it into the final publication or not. Please make sure you include an email address so that YEWF can do this.  A copy of YEWF will be sent to every contributor whose work appears in the journal.

Go to yewf.wetpaint.com for full submission guidelines.

Please be aware that YEWF will not publish any writing or artwork that encourages discrimination of people on the basis of their race, age, sexuality, gender, religion or nationality.

YEWF is published in partnership with MFG Comhar Dhuibhne with the support of the Arts Council.
