Climate Camp 2010
A direct action camp to live, learn and build for a sustainable future.
Climate Camp is a place where you can meet other like minded individuals keen on making environmental change happen and where you can take part in workshops and generally sharpen your advocate skills. Climate Camp is about getting together and trying to figure out how YOU can make a difference and do something valuable about environmental issues. This year’s Climate Camp is set to take place in Victoria Bridge, County Tyrone from the 12th to the 16th of August 2010.
The 2010 Climate Camp is focused on supporting the local community campaign against the building of the new A5 road between Dublin and Derry. You can find out more about this campaign by clicking here. This proposed new road would destroy many fields and trees; AKA the local carbon sink, all for an estimated 20 minute reduction driving time between these two cities. The community feels it is not worth it. They would instead like to see a more sustainable Rail Link being built.
There will also be a 250KM cycle to the camp from Galway to Tyrone. Interested campees can join the cycle, taking place over a few days. You will need to bring a tent and spare bike lights.
