Challenge Europe 2010
Play your part in tackling climate change!
DEADLINE: APRIL 30th
If you are passionate about climate issues and want to make a real difference, why not take part in the British Council’s international project, Challenge Europe.
Climate change is real. Something needs to be done and the time to stop talking and start acting is NOW.
Cooool... tell me more
Challenge Europe enables ambitious individuals, from 15 European countries and all walks of life, to improve their knowledge of climate change issues and provides a platform for them to develop innovative and practical ideas that will reduce carbon use.
All past Climate Advocates have been recruited for their passion and commitment to the environment. They come from a variety of backgrounds, eg: an independent filmmaker from Finland, a lawyer from England, a musician from the Czech Republic, a farmer from Northern Ireland, a journalist from Norway, an ecopreneur from Ireland, an IT expert from Poland and an ecology student from the Ukraine.
Pick me?
Are you in the early stages of your career? Have you got what it takes to make a difference?
Can you commit approximately 12 hours of your time each month over the next year?
What are you on about?
In Northern Ireland and Ireland, we will select 15 early career individuals who will work collaboratively to develop 3 concrete ideas to reduce carbon use. If selected, you will be offered the chance to explore solutions to climate challenges with other bold and bright people across Europe. You will participate in local and international visits and study tours, develop long-lasting networks, interact with leaders, public figures and specialists from different sectors of society, share best practice across Europe and promote unique ideas that will accelerate change to a Low Carbon society.
Although participation is voluntary, you will be provided you with opportunities to learn from the best and to develop your knowledge, expertise and influence.
How can I make this happen?
You can find more information and an application form at
www.britishcouncil.org/nireland or www.britishcouncil.org/ireland. Send your completed application to Challengeeurope@britishcouncil.org by Friday 30 April 2010.
