LMHR Ireland is a collective dedicated to fighting the growth of racism and fascism in Ireland.
The aim is to promote education and understanding of other cultures through musical events like the much anticipated, you gotta be there LoveMusic HateRacism Galway Gig on December 15th at Roisin Dubh.
The economic downturn has created the perfect breeding ground for anger towards immigrants, asylum seekers and foreigners in general. LMHR wants to take that anger and the ignorance and turn it into something good.

Love Music Hate Racism Ireland is a movement FOR the people, BY the people, needing YOU to get involved. Here’s what you can do:
- In a band or love the music scene? Talk to your band mates, fav rockers or other musicians about putting on a gig to support anti-racism.
- Into art? Gather a group of art students to make some anti-racism banners for your school or maybe put some nice graffiti on some old walls.
- Want to talk about racism in school? Chat to your teachers or profs about organising a talk about: how music and the anti-racism message is linked; where different instruments come from; how empty our ipods would be without diversity!
- Jock rockers? Maybe tie in your love of sport with one of the class Irish orgs working with sport and anti-racism like SARI.
- Town Hall style. Sick of the anti-black taxi driver tendencies at your taxi rank? Is your fresh air being polluted with snide remarks about ‘foreigners’ a lot recently? Team up with other anti-racism groups in your community to come together and do something about it.
- Party! Have an anti-racism day at your gaf, in the office or in the streets with diverse music, food and sport.
- Get up, stand up… and speak up! Blast your views and ideas about racism in Ireland and how to beat it by submitting written articles and funky multimedia of all types to SpunOut.ie. Get loud, and get heard!

LMHR is a blank canvas that people are encouraged to experiment with. The possibilities are endless, but it's important that you take the lead yourself on organising an event and work along side others.
We have a chance to prevent a rise in racism in this country. Prevention is better than cure.
