Charged up for change EXPO
Event: Get fired up with a SpunOut Superhero!
Another one of SpunOut.ie's amazing Superhero projects is kicking off...
Volunteer Westmeath is pleased to invite you to the Charged Up For Change Expo at Bloomfield House Hotel on the 14th and 15th of May 2011.
Come enjoy a unique experience of art, music, science and technology, cuisine, activism, athletics and dance.
What’s it all about?
The expo will highlight the work of individuals and groups making positive local and global change. It will be a fantastic opportunity for groups to tell the public about the work they do and also to showcase of community spirit in Westmeath.
On the night of the 14th, there will be an Expo Ball after the day’s events. The Expo Ball will be a chance to relax with a bit of music and dance and to network with your fellow organisations and volunteers. The V'Oscar awards will also take place at this time. These awards celebrate the organisations in Westmeath who are excelling at their volunteer management.
The purpose of the event is to encourage everyone who visits the Expo to see how they might get involved in many of the activities in the community, or how they might use their own imaginations to create social change in unusual ways. Exhibitors and visitors will be able to network and exchange ideas. Local musicians, actors, and performance artists will contribute to the carnival-like atmosphere, as will refreshments, door prizes, and other creative surprises.
The event will also feature guest speakers and workshops.
After the Ball, Volunteer Westmeath will release a series of Chinese lanterns across Lough Ennell (wind permitting) to raise awareness of suicide. The Lanterns will each cost €4 and all profits will go to SpunOut.ie.
When:
The 14th and 15th of May from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Cost:
The whole Expo event is FREE and there are discounted rates available in the beautiful Bloomfield house for those that wish to stay over on the Saturday night.
