USI campaigns

Check out the latest goings on.

The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) has campaigned for the rights of students in Ireland since 1959 and works hard to still fight for students’ right today.

The Union of Students in Ireland is committed to campaigning on behalf of the students of Ireland for a better education system, fairer student support, genuine diversity in access to education, and adequate funding for all students.

Over the years the USI has success in a variety of campaigns, from abortion information access to the abolition of tuition fees.

At the moment, they are working on a variety of campaigns.

Equality Campaign. This campaign focuses on five major areas of inequality in the education system: Students with Disability, Gender Equality, International Students, LGBT Students and Mature Students.

LGBT Campaign. This campaign focuses on three major issues – civil marriage, mental health and drug/alcohol misuse.

Mature Students Campaign. This campaign focuses on three specific issues – the Access Programme, peer support, affordable childcare.

International Students Campaign.
This campaign focuses on the representation of international students in new immigration and viva proposals and to increase the number of international students involved in local student unions.

Gender Equality Campaign. This campaign focuses on reproductive rights, domestic violence in youth relationships and against men and the promotion of women in decision making positions.

Disability Campaign. This campaign focuses on raising awareness of students rights, on increasing funding for students with disabilities and on building links with organisations that support people with disabilities.

Student Employee Rights Campaign.
This campaign focuses on the promotion of employee rights for the thousands of young people who work their way through college.

Green Energy Campaign. This campaign aims to mobilise a large group of people to press the government to develop renewable energy sources and other conversation measures in Ireland.
