Save the Hill of Tara campaign
Stepping up to help this sacral site under threat.
What is this campaign all about?
The Hill of Tara is one of Ireland’s most famous archaeological sites. Folklore says that it was the seat of the High King of Ireland. The site of the Hill of Tara site is filled with earthen works, hill forts and ring forts. It is of great historical significance, as well as being a place of great natural beauty.
Construction of a motorway passing near the Hill of Tara started in 2008. There has been a huge public response to this, as the planned motorway is only 1 km away one from the hill itself. Other alternative routes for the motorway have been identified. So, the Save the Hill of Tara campaign wants to put a stop to this planned route.
