Join the campaign for a right to health

Amnesty Ireland's latest campaign.

Amnesty Ireland has just launched a new campaign on the right to health in Ireland. The campaign focuses on health as a human right. Amnesty feels that if Ireland focuses on health as a human right; then health will still be a priority even in times of recession. They also feel that Ireland’s health resources need to be used more efficiently.

Amnesty particularly wants to see improvement in four key areas:

  1. Human rights must be at the core of the Government’s healthcare policy.
  2. Cost must not, and should not, be a barrier to health care.
  3. There must be greater accountability in the delivery of the right to health. Ireland should consider making laws regarding the right to health care.
  4. The Department of Health must monitor the healthcare system to ensure that care is not determined by financial status.
