Join the campaign for a right to health
Amnesty Ireland's latest campaign.
Amnesty Ireland has just launched a new campaign on the right to health in Ireland. The campaign focuses on health as a human right. Amnesty feels that if Ireland focuses on health as a human right; then health will still be a priority even in times of recession. They also feel that Ireland’s health resources need to be used more efficiently.
Amnesty particularly wants to see improvement in four key areas:
- Human rights must be at the core of the Government’s healthcare policy.
- Cost must not, and should not, be a barrier to health care.
- There must be greater accountability in the delivery of the right to health. Ireland should consider making laws regarding the right to health care.
- The Department of Health must monitor the healthcare system to ensure that care is not determined by financial status.
