Recycle your Christmas tree
Don't dump your Christmas packaging and decorations- free recycling is available.
Free collection points for recycling your Christmas tree are now open as part of the Repak Green Christmas campaign. The aim of the campaign is to encourage householders to recycle more of their used packaging than ever before.
Repak is aiming to collect and recycle 45% of this used packaging, generated over the holiday period. This is equivalent to 24 kilos per household or 35,000 tonnes in total of used packaging. Trees collected will be chipped and recycled.
This year the theme of Repak’s Green Christmas Recycling campaign is ‘Clean and Green’. Repak is calling on householders to take care when recycling and to ensure the materials they are putting into their recycling bins is of good quality. There will be kerbside collection schemes and extended opening hours at recycling centres throughout the country at the start of the New Year. Find your nearest collection point by checking out: www.repak.ie/recycling_facilities.php
