Change makers in Africa
Be inspired by the people making huge change in their communities in Uganda.
Africa. Why is it that we associate an entire continent either with bad news or safaris? Why is it that we either hear of war and famine, or giraffes and savannahs. Surely there is more than that?
Clare Mulvany travelled to Uganda to go beyond the headlines and clichés, discovering a group of entrepreneurial individuals who are working to bring about positive social change in their communities through innovative projects and businesses.
In a series of articles and photos stories, she will introduce us to some of these ‘social entrepreneurs’, people whose ideas and organisations create new services and markets that benefit underserved communities. They are individuals who ideas leap beyond charity to find systemic solutions to poverty, education and health. It also comes with a guarantee: not a giraffe in sight.
With thanks to the Simon Cumbers Media Challenge Fund and Connect World for their generous support for this project.
