Leaflets and flyers

Promote your cause and encourage others to get involved!

Article by : SpunOut.ie

Leaflets and flyers are normally A4 or A5 size sheets of paper. They are useful for distributing detailed information in a visual manner. They can be delivered to houses, schools, youth centres, etc. or handed to people in the street as an effective way of getting ‘on the spot support’ and personal feedback.

DO’s

  • Put time and effort into the design of the leaflet and type the details when possible.

  • Write in a style that will be understood by all. Avoid jargon and keep the content short, simple and clear.

  • Work out the quantities required and remember to estimate costs. Generally, if you are getting the leaflets printed, the more you print, the less it costs per leaflet.

  • Remember to include contact details and where further information can be obtained.

Consider:

  • The use of cartoons and slogans to get the message across.

  • Draw up a list of distribution points and volunteers to support you in distributing the leaflets.

  • Target people who you consider important to your cause.

  • Advertise a group meeting a week or so after the distribution day - this will encourage new people interested in your issue to get involved.
