- Decide exactly what you want done in your area as a group or individually.
- Look up the name of a local politician, as well as his/her work address, email and phone number. (This should be on your local county/town council website).
- State in a letter/email what it is you want in your area and why it needs to be done.
- At the end of the letter or email, you might want to put a list of people who agree with you to emphasise your point.
- If the politician does not get back to you within a two week period, then you might want to give them a call and speak to them personally, just so they know that you are serious about your proposal.
- Many politicians also run clinics in the area they work in, so they are easily accessible to the public. If you want to, it would be really easy for yourself and a friend to go to their office and meet them by appointment, to talk about your ideas to improve your local area.
