Campaign tips

  • When you are organising a campaign around an issue it is important to set a timeframe. This might be 3 to 6 months or even a year. Setting a timeframe for your goal will help focus the energy and commitment of all involved.
  • If you are working in a group, it is important to inspire and encourage one another. When taking on a challenge, everyone needs the support and attention of those who share the same visions and goals. Share the responsibilities and don't let one person decide for the whole group.
  • Brainstorming is a great way to come up with new ideas. Get your group together and try and come up with as many ideas as everyone can think of. Make a note of everyone’s suggestions no matter how mad they seem as the whackiest idea can sometimes turn into the best one.  Don’t spend  longer than 10 minutes on any brainstorming session.
  • Look at any problems as an opportunity to be creative. Experiment with new ways of addressing the problem. Try the untried. Be willing to change group responsibilities around and to find other solutions to a problem.
  • Don't forget the purpose of what you are doing. Your belief in the cause will help keep you going.
  • Work with friends. Seek their support. That’s what they are for!
  • Be optimistic. Focus on the good in those you are working with, the good in yourself, and the ultimate good you are doing, whether your success is big or small.
  • Respect differences in opinion, ability and methods put forward by those within the group. There is strength in diversity of ideas and contributions.
