Meet the amazing people behind the SpunOut scenes.
Manus Hanratty, CEO
Manus is the new kid on the block at SpunOut.ie. He is experienced in both the non-profit and technology sectors and is passionate about using the web for creating social change. He previously set-up and managed Lotus (IBM), Netscape and AOL in Ireland. He is on the Board and Executive Committee of Fit Ltd., which has trained over 10,000 marginalised young people in technology skills for employment. He was a Facilitator and Board Member at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation where he was involved in conflict resolution activities in Northern Ireland and the Middle East. Manus is also Chairman of St. Patrick's University Hospital Consumer Council, holds qualifications in IT, management, conflict resolution, meditation and physiology and is a keen cyclist (when the sun is shining). He is generally interested in staying fit and likes to cook as a form of relaxation. He has a strong interested in physiology as a means to understand the link between health, wellbeing, exercise and nutrition.
Manus believes that the youth of Ireland, roughly half the population, who are young, smart, inquisitive, innovative and well able to contribute in many ways to fix problems and further develop a better and just society for us all. He plans to commit himself and SpunOut.ie to helping in all ways possible to making a solid and real investment in young people a reality.
Anna Lally, Deputy CEO
Anna became involved with SpunOut.ie when the organisation was just getting started in Donegal. She worked with Ruairi McKiernan and Keith Corcoran on the development of the SpunOut.ie website, and on the vision for the organisation. Anna spent a number of years as Editor of SpunOut.ie, overseeing the website, content and online platforms development. In recent years, as Deputy CEO, Anna has focused on helping to ensure the organisation is innovative, and focused on effectively engaging young people as change-makers.
Before life at SpunOut.ie, Anna studied Media and worked as a journalist and Editor in both Ireland and Spain. She is currently studying for a Masters in Social Research.
“Something most people don’t know about me is... I can run across jaggy rocks in my bare feet without so much as an ‘ouch!’, all thanks to many, many summers spent bare-foot around the Donegal coastline.”
Emily Lindenmuth, Editor
Emily conducted her job interview with SpunOut.ie while standing on her chair (yes, you read that correctly), and has enjoyed the relative wackiness of working at Spunout.ie ever since. Initially brought on board as SpunOut’ie’s Youth Participation Officer, over the last couple years she’s been holding/ cracking/smacking the reins of SpunOut.ie’s website, social networks and other online platforms as Editor of what she thinks is an organisation that is an absolute class act.
Before integrating into Irish office life, Emily was busy studying International Relations in her nativeland of America, followed by a Masters at Trinity College Dublin in International Peace Studies. Amongst all that she was travelling, volunteering, interning, and yoga-ing around the globe in places like Germany, Italy, France, England, Scotland, South Africa, and ah yes, Wicklow!
"Something most people don’t know about me is... when I was a kid I wanted to be a lumberjack because I was good at climbing trees. Somewhere in that young head of mine the logic made sense. Ninja was my back-up plan... hey, who knows what the future holds?"
Jason Coomey, IT Dude
Jason hails from Cork and has lived a nomadic lifestyle in the short years since finishing college. He's lived and worked in Kilkenny and Galway before moving to Dublin with SpunOut.ie.
Managing the Web and I.T. side of SpunOut.ie seems comparable only to managing a small zoo. The site is always hungry, demands attention and has a tendency to act out unpredictably on occasion. But it's also full of interesting and informative stuff for the eager visitor.
DYK?
Jason appeared as an extra at the beginning of the film 'Song for a raggy boy'. His 1.5 seconds of fame!
Niamh Farrell, Office Manager
Niamh is the newbie, having joined SpunOut.ie on it’s arrival to the new offices in Temple Bar. As Office Manager she is in charge of all areas of accounts and administration. While keeping clients, suppliers and staff happy, Niamh is also busy working on and supporting the rest of the crew on the multiple projects going on at SpunOut.ie. She furthermore spends her time dealing with the Revenue, Banks, and Auditors as well as certain legal matters.
"Something most people don’t know about me is... I got my very first pair of roller skates for my birthday...THIS YEAR!"
